Grateful Students, Proud Ambassadors: My Heartfelt Thank You to the University of Bath
By Mariam Amhaz Founder of Global Path Connections Ltd
MSc Conservation of Historic Buildings, University of Bath

When reflecting on my time studying in the UK, one feeling rises above everything else for me: gratitude.
I came to the University of Bath as an international student with big dreams and a heart full of hope. What I discovered was far more than an education; I found a caring, supportive community that protected me, inspired me, and helped me grow into the professional I am today. That experience shaped not only my degree but the entire mission of my company, Global Path Connections Ltd.
Today, I publicly expresses my deep appreciation; and I invite every international student and graduate who has built a life in the UK to join me as Proud Ambassadors.
To the quiet heroes who made campus feel like home
I extend special thanks to the security teams, watchmen, and cleaning crew. Their 24/7 security presence and regular cleaning rounds in the dormitory common areas gave me peace of mind when I was far from home. They were the unseen foundation that allowed me to focus fully on my studies.
The campus that welcomed me every single day
The University of Bath’s beautiful greenery, well-cared-for animals, and peaceful tree-lined walks between classes lifted my spirits daily. The cafeterias and cafés offered tasty, affordable food with excellent Halal and vegetarian options. On-campus pricing was genuinely student-friendly, with affordable items, free second-hand goods, and even free donated food when needed.

The prayer rooms were thoughtfully designed and secure: clean, well-maintained, with two dedicated spaces; a smaller one for ladies and a larger classroom-sized mixed room; each with a good-sized bathroom. Access restricted only to Muslim students for safety showed real care and respect.
Facilities that supported my success
The library became a true sanctuary for me. Even during the busiest exam weeks, I could always find a comfortable seat. When rare books were needed for my thesis, the library team ordered and paid for them within hours. The smooth borrowing and returning system encouraged me to read widely and deeply.

The classrooms were spacious and modern, giving every student their own comfortable space to focus and create.
Professors who became true mentors
My professors went far beyond teaching — they became genuine mentors who helped shape my entire academic journey. I had regular meetings with Dr Jonathan Foyle, who mentored me, introduced me safely to the UK’s academic world, and was consistently supportive, encouraging, and motivating.
Professors Robert Proctor and Richard Ball strongly supported my academic approach of writing papers on historic sites from the Middle East that have not been well documented. Despite the challenges of working with less-documented sources, they gave me all the support and assistance I needed, showing unwavering belief in my research.
One moment that still moves me deeply occurred during a field trip to Dyrham Park, a historic National Trust site. When I mentioned I would need a prayer space for the full day, my professor immediately contacted the site manager and secured a clean, carpeted prayer room just for me. That single act of kindness and respect remains a powerful example of the supportive culture I experienced.

Constructive Feedback for Future Students
While I deeply appreciate the dedication of the security and cleaning teams, I was not impressed with certain aspects of the overall dormitory management. I know that many other students share similar concerns regarding the quality and consistency of the residential experience. I respectfully raise these points in the hope that the university will review and address them, so future students can enjoy an even stronger and more supportive living environment.
Additionally, the cash-free payment system in the cafeterias and cafés presented a real challenge for international students. Many of us struggled until we received and activated our UK banking cards. I respectfully suggest that the university review these processes and consider practical solutions; such as temporary alternative payment options or clearer guidance for new arrivals; so that future international students can settle in more smoothly and enjoy all campus services without unnecessary stress.
From gratitude to action: launching “Grateful Students, Proud Ambassadors”
These experiences; both the outstanding support and the areas that need attention; inspired me to found Global Path Connections Ltd and create its flagship initiative: Grateful Students, Proud Ambassadors.
Through this platform, my company celebrates the journeys of international students and graduates. It shares success stories, publicly thank the people and places that made them possible — including dedicated library teams, cafeteria staff, security and cleaning crews, prayer facilities, and inspiring professors; and positions graduates as proud ambassadors of their communities, their heritage, and the United Kingdom.
A message to every international student and graduate in the UK
I believe that anyone who has established themselves here; professionally or personally; is now in a powerful position.
Become an ambassador.
Share your gratitude.
Support the next generation.
Help others navigate the system with the same kindness you once received.
Your story can open doors, change lives, and strengthen the bridge between cultures.
I am living proof that one supportive university community can transform a life; and that one grateful heart can go on to help many more.
To the University of Bath, its faculty, staff, and entire support ecosystem: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your dedication continues to inspire everything I do today.
From Internship to Innovation: How the Bath World Heritage Centre Shaped Global Path Connections Ltd

At Global Path Connections Ltd, we believe that meaningful cultural understanding forms the foundation of successful international business. This belief was deeply reinforced during Mariam Amhaz’s internship and volunteer period at the Bath World Heritage Centre from October 2023 to September 2024.
The Centre, managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council, stands as a remarkable example of how heritage can be brought to life through engaging, inclusive, and interactive experiences. From the moment we stepped into the Centre, it was clear that this was far more than a visitor attraction. It is a dynamic space where history, culture, and community intersect in meaningful ways.

One moment that will stay with us forever came when a family of five from the Middle East arrived at the Centre. The mother was visibly hesitant to speak English, and an elderly family member stayed close by her side. Drawing on her knowledge of traditional dress and cultural etiquette, Mariam warmly greeted them in Arabic. The family’s faces instantly lit up with surprise and relief.
With genuine care and patience, Mariam offered her full support; guiding them through the exhibits, explaining the best places to visit in Bath, and delivering a short, engaging presentation on the city’s lush green skylines, elegant Georgian architecture, the Roman Baths, and the ancient spa. As she highlighted beautiful parallels between Roman wellness traditions and longstanding Middle Eastern practices of healing, hospitality, and community bathing, the entire family leaned in. Their eyes sparkled with recognition as ancient history suddenly felt intimately connected to their own rich cultural heritage. In that moment, the Bath World Heritage Centre became far more than a museum; it became a bridge of understanding and belonging.

We were particularly inspired by the dedication and professionalism of the team, including Volunteer Manager Abi Godfrey and Gill, who provided exceptional guidance and support throughout the internship. Their commitment to cross-cultural dialogue and public engagement created an environment where volunteers could develop valuable skills in cultural storytelling, public speaking, hospitality, and inclusive communication.
The experience also began with the encouragement of Professor Marion Harney and her department at the University of Bath, whose guidance motivated students to pursue this opportunity. We extend our sincere appreciation to Professor Harney and the University of Bath for fostering such meaningful connections between academia and heritage institutions.

This period allowed us to witness first-hand the power of cultural intelligence in action. The Centre’s approach; making heritage accessible, interactive, and relevant to diverse audiences; reinforced our conviction that deep cultural understanding is essential for successful global collaboration.
A Forward-Looking Suggestion
Given the Centre’s significant impact on volunteers and interns, we believe it would benefit from a dedicated Alumni Page. Such a platform would enable former participants to share their experiences, express gratitude, and maintain connections as cultural ambassadors for Bath’s UNESCO World Heritage values.
The internship at Bath World Heritage Centre played a pivotal role in shaping the vision and values of Global Path Connections Ltd. The lessons learned; particularly the importance of cultural intelligence, inclusive engagement, and meaningful storytelling; now form the core of our proprietary Global Path Framework™.
We remain deeply grateful to:
Professor Marion Harney and the University of Bath
Bath & North East Somerset Council
Abi Godfrey and Gill at the Bath World Heritage Centre
Their collective efforts continue to inspire our work in helping SMEs navigate international expansion with cultural intelligence and purpose.
Beacons of Hope: How Immigrants and Newcomers Are Building Bridges and Enriching Their New Homelands

In a world where migrant and immigrant stories are too often told through the lens of struggle and difficulty, Global Path Connections chooses to shine a bright light on the remarkable individuals who turn their journeys into powerful stories of hope, resilience, education, and lasting contribution.
Today, we are truly inspired to celebrate one such visionary leader: Sayed Zahir Mohseni educator, playwright, author, community builder, and dedicated media producer — whose life’s work stands as a beacon for immigrants and newcomers everywhere who are determined to make a meaningful difference in their new homelands.
When migration opened new chapters in his life, Mr. Mohseni carried forward an unwavering spirit of service and creativity. In Austria, he founded the Humanity Without Borders Association in Linz, uniting educators, professors, and people from many countries to promote global education and integration. He delivered inspiring talks on history during Global Education Week and translated important educational materials to help immigrant families successfully navigate their new systems.

In Canada, he established a vibrant Cultural Association in Hamilton that fostered belonging and cross-cultural friendship. Later, in the United Kingdom, he created the Rastan Association — a truly diverse platform that brought together newcomers from many backgrounds and nations. Through these initiatives, he organised mother-tongue language courses and meaningful cultural events that strengthened communities and built bridges across differences.
His creative contributions further demonstrate his deep commitment to humanity and culture. His historical play Gawharshad Begum was staged to great acclaim in Hamilton, Greenford, and Wembley, touching audiences with its universal themes of leadership, resilience, and human dignity. The production earned him a special award from a UK Member of Parliament for the most humane literary-historical writing in London. He also received the prestigious Qand-e Parsi Award in 2015 and proudly launched his book Jang wa Jang-Afuruzan at SOAS University of London in 2018.

What makes personalities like Sayed Zahir Mohseni such powerful role models for immigrants and diaspora communities is their extraordinary ability to transform life’s challenges into opportunities for enlightenment, unity, and positive change. Across Austria, Canada, and the United Kingdom, he has founded organisations, written books, staged powerful theatrical works, and consistently advocated for education, women’s rights, and cross-cultural understanding — all while enriching the societies that welcomed him.
Today, his vision continues to shine through Radio Ketaab, the YouTube channel and digital platform he founded in 2020. Through engaging video and audio content focused on intellectual history, literature, scientific discussions, and the spirit of enlightenment, Radio Ketaab serves as a vital bridge that makes knowledge accessible to diaspora communities and wider audiences around the world. It stands as a beautiful example of how immigrants and newcomers can create meaningful platforms that promote tolerance, combat ignorance, and foster constructive dialogue in their new homelands.

Mr. Mohseni’s remarkable journey reminds every immigrant and new arrival that they are not merely adapting — they are actively contributing light, culture, creativity, and hope to the countries they now call home. His story beautifully embodies the core mission of Global Path Connections: celebrating those who build bridges, amplify voices of resilience, and create paths of dignity and progress for all.
We celebrate you, Sayed Zahir Mohseni, as a shining example of compassionate, visionary leadership among immigrants and diaspora communities. Your dedication, creativity, and lifelong service prove that newcomers bring invaluable strengths and fresh perspectives that enrich every society they join. You inspire us to keep connecting paths, uplifting role models, and supporting every individual who turns their journey into a powerful force for good.
To all immigrants, newcomers, and diaspora members who are quietly making a difference in their new homelands — let the story of leaders like Sayed Zahir Mohseni remind you that your voice, your work, and your contributions truly matter. Together, we are building a brighter, more connected, and more enlightened future.
Women Who Are Making History Today: Empowerment, Leadership & Service That Truly Matters

As Women’s History Month draws to a close on March 31st, we celebrate not only the trailblazers of the past but the extraordinary women shaping tomorrow — right here, right now.
From kitchen-table startups to global movements, British women like Julie Deane CBE, Sahar Hashemi OBE, Baroness Karren Brady CBE, Deborah Meaden, Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, Tessa Clarke, Ella Mills, and many more continue to prove that vision, resilience, and courage can build empires and drive meaningful change.
Yet true history-making also happens in the dedicated service of women who quietly empower others every day.

At Global Path Connections, we are proud to build a positive image and celebrate the leadership of diverse women who serve with excellence in our broader community initiatives. In this space, these remarkable women stand at the forefront — inspiring, supporting, and warmly welcoming newcomers. They help families understand British life standards, navigate real challenges, and successfully integrate while preserving their dignity and cultural identity.
We are especially honored to highlight:
Eng.Farida Stankezai, whose dedication and leadership continue to make a profound difference in guiding and empowering community members.
Dr. Nazee Akbari MBE, Chief Executive Officer of New Citizens’ Gateway (https://www.ncgateway.org.uk/ ), bringing visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to refugee and migrant support.
Dr. Fariba Kellaway, with decades of experience in fundraising, business development, and direct service to refugees and asylum seekers.
Sanja Dujmovic Potnar, with her rich background in service delivery and organizational development for vulnerable communities.
Fanta Sheriff, whose own journey as a refugee fuels her compassionate support and advice work.
Geetha Saba-Nathan, whose financial expertise and passion for social enterprise create real opportunities.
And the many other inspiring women in our extended network who serve proudly and make a big difference.
These women embody the true spirit of leadership: creating space for others to rise. In a diverse team united by purpose, they show that empowerment is about lifting entire communities, one family and one newcomer at a time.

To every woman reading this: your voice, your resilience, and your service matter. You are making history today.
At Global Path Connections, we remain committed to amplifying these stories and creating pathways for meaningful integration and belonging.
Women’s History is still being written — and we are writing it together.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo 2025: A Global Stage for Empowerment

At Global Path Connections, we believe that every story of resilience and innovation deserves to be amplified. The Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo 2025, hosted by UN Women Europe and Central Asia, was one such moment; a powerful gathering that united women from diverse communities, backgrounds, and countries to celebrate entrepreneurship, empowerment, and connection.
This regional virtual event was more than a conference; it was a movement of voices rising together. Over two days, participants gained both practical tools and theoretical insights, equipping them to strengthen their ventures and expand their networks. The Expo reminded us that empowerment is not only about knowledge, but also about the courage to connect, collaborate, and build bridges across borders.

Linda Pereira stood out as a beacon of motivation. Her positive energy and inspiring words encouraged women to raise the bar, honor their values, and embrace the future with confidence. She reminded us that empowerment is not a solitary journey — it is a collective force that thrives when women uplift one another.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to all the speakers who shared their expertise. From entrepreneurs to investors, from innovators to community leaders, each brought unique perspectives shaped by their own journeys. Their contributions reflected the true spirit of women empowering women, proving that diversity of thought and experience is the foundation of progress.
The Expo showcased voices from across different countries, specialties, and roles, each weaving their knowledge into a shared tapestry of empowerment. Together, they demonstrated that when women unite, they not only strengthen their own paths but also inspire entire communities to rise.
This event was a reminder that empowerment is not confined to one region or one culture. It is a global movement, and every woman who steps forward adds to the collective strength of humanity.
At Global Path Connections, we celebrate these moments because they embody our mission: to connect diverse experiences, foster empathy, and amplify hidden champions. The Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo 2025 was not just about business; it was about building futures, nurturing resilience, and creating networks that last beyond the event itself.
Let us continue to honor these voices, support women-led initiatives, and build bridges across communities. The Expo was a spark; now it is up to us to keep the flame alive.
Global Voices Rising: Women as Hidden Champions – Afghan Women United Leading the Way

Women from every corner of the world serve as the unsung guardians of their communities, giving voice to the stories often left in the shadows—tales of quiet endurance, collective dreams, and the uncelebrated strength that holds families and societies together. In this global tapestry, Afghan women stand out even more profoundly, carrying hidden narratives of war, conflict, and isolation that could easily silence the spirit, yet they rise with a resilience that commands the world’s attention.
From my perspective as a non-Afghan committed to fostering cross-cultural understanding at Global Path Connections, the sight of the Afghan Women United team on Morocco’s FIFA tournament pitch fills me with profound admiration. Representing Afghans who paid the highest price on the front lines and deserve every chance to shine, they met Chad with a 6-1 triumph that was less about victory and more about presence—a bold affirmation of harmony and the enduring power of perseverance.
These women embody the fighter’s heart, having navigated layers of hardship while nurturing the flames of hope. Their story invites us to listen closely: How do they stand so tall amid the weight of unspoken trials? How do they transform isolation into a force for connection? As we witness their grace, we are reminded that women everywhere—and Afghan women in particular—offer lessons in fortitude that inspire us all to advocate for equity, listen with intention, and build spaces where every voice finds its echo.
In times when doubt and division cloud the horizon, their light on the global stage reassures us: Shared humanity prevails—Afghan lives, like all lives, hold deep value; compassion flows for Afghan communities; and they merit the same paths of dignity and possibility open to everyone. Moments like these prove that brighter days always follow the storm, guiding us toward unity.
At Global Path Connections, we honor these narratives by connecting diverse experiences, always with an ear to the hidden stories that shape our world. Let’s take action: Support women’s initiatives that amplify overlooked voices, contribute to programs fostering their dreams, or lend your platform to inclusive dialogues.
Global Path Connections celebrates the intersections of diverse experiences, fostering empathy and collective progress one story at a time. Stay connected for more tales of global inspiration.

From Kabul to Brighton: How Afghan Hospitality Builds Bridges Across Cultures
At Global Path Connections, we believe that business is more than commerce; it’s connection. And when culture, hospitality, and diversity come together in a single space, the result is not just success; it’s significance.
One shining example of this is Zafron Restaurant in Brighton, an Afghan-owned restaurant that has become a beacon of inclusive business and cultural pride. From the moment guests walk in, they’re greeted by a team representing Afghan, Pakistani, Kurdish, and Iranian backgrounds; each contributing to a rich tapestry of flavors, traditions, and shared values.
The food is exceptional, the service heartfelt, and the ambiance alive with traditional music and freshly baked bread. Turkish chai is offered on the house, and the staff’s attention to cleanliness and respectful service; gloved hands, warm smiles; reflects a deep commitment to quality and care.
But what truly sets Zafron apart is its embrace of Afghan-rooted generosity; a tradition where guests are honored with warmth, and sometimes even offered meals as a gesture of welcome. Though patrons insist on paying, the gesture reflects a deeper truth: this is a place where people are valued, not just served.
Zafron is more than a restaurant; it’s a living example of how diversity strengthens business, and how Afghan entrepreneurship continues to build bridges across communities. It evokes the spirit of the Silk Road, where trade was not just about goods, but about connection, culture, and mutual respect.
This same spirit drives the Afghan Business Circle; a growing initiative that unites Afghan entrepreneurs and professionals across the West. It’s a collaborative space where tradition meets innovation, and where businesses of all sizes contribute to a shared legacy of excellence.
From food trucks to fintech, Afghan-owned ventures are thriving. The Circle supports this momentum by fostering mentorship, visibility, and meaningful partnerships: ensuring that Afghan heritage continues to inspire and uplift in modern markets.
At Global Path Connections, we proudly support this movement. Afghan businesses aren’t just building livelihoods; they’re building bridges. And Zafron Brighton is a shining example of what that looks like in action.
Let’s continue to uplift these stories. Let’s celebrate the Afghan spirit. Let’s build bridges; together.
Inclusive Service as a Strategic Advantage: A Case from Tesco Brighton

At Global Path Connections, we champion businesses that demonstrate not only operational excellence but also cultural intelligence and inclusive service. In today’s global marketplace, success is increasingly defined by how well companies connect with diverse communities; not just through products, but through people.
A recent experience at Tesco Brighton illustrates this principle in action.
One of our community members, a visibly covered Muslim parent, visited the store with their child to purchase a specific bakery item; the Tesco Maple & Pecan Plait. Only one remained on the shelf. Upon inquiring about additional stock, the employee, Mr. Elliott, responded with professionalism and empathy. Though none were available in the back, he offered a solution: fresh pastries could be prepared in 14 minutes.
Twelve pieces were ordered immediately.
This moment was not extraordinary in scale, but it was exceptional in impact. Mr. Elliott’s response reflected a deep understanding of customer needs, cultural respect, and operational flexibility. His behavior exemplified the kind of frontline leadership that businesses should cultivate; where employees are empowered to act with initiative and integrity.
For businesses operating in multicultural environments, this story serves as a reminder: inclusive service is not a courtesy; it’s a strategic advantage. When customers feel seen and respected, loyalty follows. When employees are trained to respond with empathy and resourcefulness, brand reputation grows.
At Global Path Connections, we help organizations embed these values into their operations. Whether through cultural integration, brand positioning, or digital transformation, our goal is to ensure that businesses thrive by being welcoming, adaptable, and globally aware.
Tesco Brighton’s example is one worth noting; not just for its customer satisfaction, but for its demonstration of what inclusive business can look like in practice.
Small Shop, Big Spirit: The Afghan Flavor Revolution
In the vibrant heart of Cricklewood Lane, London, a modest seafood shop is quietly making waves. Ever Fresh Fish may be small in size, but its impact is anything but. With its fresh and frozen seafood offerings, a loyal customer base, and a team led by the ever-welcoming Mr. Azim, this establishment is a shining example of Afghan entrepreneurship at its finest.

The energy inside is electric; diners from all walks of life gather to enjoy the flavors, the hospitality, and the sense of community. During a recent visit, we had the pleasure of meeting the family of Mr. Saeed Yusufi, founder of AFG Auto, another Afghan-owned business that exemplifies integrity and service. Their presence, as regular patrons, reflects the deep bonds and mutual support that define the Afghan diaspora.

These stories are not isolated. They are part of a growing movement; one that deserves recognition, amplification, and pride.
🌍 Afghan Business Circle: A Movement Rooted in Heritage and Vision
The Afghan Business Circle is a dynamic alliance of Afghan entrepreneurs, professionals, and small businesses across the West. It is not just a network, it is a privileged circle where dreams are nurtured, crafts are elevated, and success is shared.
From bustling markets to boardrooms, from food trucks to fintech startups, Afghan businesses are thriving. The Circle celebrates this journey, offering a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and visibility. It is a space where heritage meets hustle, and where every member contributes to a collective legacy of excellence.
But this movement is not only about commerce; it’s about identity, dignity, and contribution. It’s about honoring the sacrifices Afghans have made and the value they continue to bring to their host communities. Whether you’re a teacher, a mechanic, a chef, or a tech innovator; your story matters.
📣 A Call to the Afghan Diaspora: Share Your Light
We invite Afghans across the globe to share their success stories, no matter the scale. Every contribution; big or small; adds to the mosaic of Afghan resilience and brilliance. Let the world see the beauty, strength, and generosity that define our people.
To those already building, serving, and inspiring: thank you. You are shaping a new narrative; one of pride, respect, and recognition. You are the ambassadors of a culture that deserves to be honored for its sacrifices and celebrated for its spirit.
🤝 Global Path Connections: Strategic Support for Growth and Visibility
At Global Path Connections, we are proud to serve as a neutral and strategic platform supporting individuals and businesses across the Afghan diaspora. Our mission is to connect, empower, and elevate; through storytelling, partnerships, and tailored services that help you grow and shine.

Global Path Connections: Driving Ali Syed’s Visionaries of the Year Campaign

United States – February 11, 2025 – Global Path Connections is proud to lead and amplify Ali Syed’s Visionaries of the Year Campaign by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), providing essential pro bono services in communications, awareness, and connectivity. We believe in the power of unity and the impact we can make when we come together for a greater cause. Our diverse team is honored to support Ali Syed, a devoted and compassionate advocate, on a mission to raise essential funds for LLS’s lifesaving work to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
This campaign is a beacon of hope, and your support can help turn this vision into reality. Together, we can provide the necessary resources for groundbreaking research, patient support, and policy changes that will save lives. Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to a world without cancer.
